A French court found that Marine Le Pen is guilty on Monday in a case of embezzlement, with a penalty that prevented her from his five -year public position with an “immediate effect”.

The ruling prevents her from running for the presidency of the National National Assembly against immigration in 2027.

Also, the public prosecutors were sentenced to two years of detention at home with an electronic bracelet, with two other years’ suspension. In addition, Le Pen was fined 100,000 euros ($ 154,000 CDN).

The prison sentence or the fine will not be applied until its appeal is exhausted, but its ban for five years of running for positions immediately, through the so -called “temporary implementation” that the prosecutors request, and will be raised only if any appeal before the elections is supported. She keeps her parliamentary seat.

Le Pen, 56, ranked second to President Emmanuel Macron in the 2017 and 2022 presidential elections, and has supported her electoral party in recent years. The National Assembly holds most of the seats in the National Assembly after its performance in the legislative elections for the past year, forcing Macron to build an alliance that rules outside his party.

The right -wing politicians rule the ruling

During the nine -week trial that occurred in late 2024, Le Pen argued that the insecurity “will have an impact on depriving me that I am a candidate for the presidency” and depriving its supporters.

“There are 11 million people who voted in favor of the movement that I represent. So … it is possible that millions and millions of French themselves will see themselves deprived of their candidate in the elections,” said the three -judge committee.
