Marienergies discover large gas reserves at Mari Ghazij-1 in Sindh, Pakistan

Marieneergies has announced a great discovery of gas in the Mari Ghazij-1 area in the Mari Development & Production Lease (Mari D & PL) in Sind County, Pakistan.

The company, which runs Mari D & PL with full ownership, succeeded in digging the well at a depth of 1015 meters.

On November 24, 2022, the well established a 5.1 million standard gas flow rate daily by testing the excavation.

The flowing pressure was recorded at the head of the well at 232 lbs per square inch (PSI) with a suffocation size 64/64in.

This represents the first dedicated exploratory well targeting several ghazij limestone units.

The concept arose from the IQBAL-1 well, where the fine limestone unit contributed to the formation of Ghazij by about 500,000 cubic feet per day in the flow.

This prompted a detailed study of limestone units inside the Ghazij formation via the Mari D & PL area.

Marienergies plans to assess this discovery more to determine the extent and evaluation of development options.

The company has a 23 % stake in the gas market and aims to reduce the decrease in gas production in Pakistan by increasing the current field production and aggressive exploration strategies.
