Luka Modric: Real Madrid midfielder Swansea is a co -owner Football news

The championship club announced that Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric joined Swansea City as an investor and a participant owner.

Captain Croatia, 39, spent the last 13 seasons with Real Madrid and helped them win six titles in the Champions League after a four -year talisman in Tottenham earlier in his distinguished career.

Swansea failed to reveal the amount of Modric, which won Ballon D’or in 2018, invested but expressed an opportunity to use his knowledge to help the Welsh uniform.

“This is an exciting opportunity,” said Modric.

“Playing at the highest level, I think I can provide my experience for the club.

“My goal is to support the club’s growth in a positive way and help build an exciting future.”

Modric’s main focus is currently on the quarter -finals in the Champions League in the quarter -finals at home to Arsenal on Wednesday, but his contract in Bernabeu is scheduled to expire at the end of this season.

He continues his decision to invest in his teammate Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior in the same manner in Ligue 2 Caen and Portuguese FC alverca, respectively.

Swansea is currently owned by Andy Coleman, Brett Kravat, Nigel Morris and Jason Cohen, a group of majority ownership of Jason Levian and Steve Kaplan last November.

“I am excited because Luka has come on board as an investor and a participant owner,” said Tom Goring, CEO of Swansea.

“There is no better model in the game for our players, from the academy to the first team.

“Its support for our ambition and our willingness to support our journey will have an effective role because we aim to continue to improve our results on and outside the stadium.

“In our conversations, he showed his passion for the club, his knowledge of how our performance, and a real passion for helping us improve.

“I am really looking to work with him closely to push us forward.”

Swansea’s latest accounts, which were issued last month, showed a loss of 15.2 million pounds before the fiscal year ending in June 2024.

A joint statement from the Swansea Council read: “We are pleased that Luca joined our ownership group.

“From our first discussions, it was clear that there is an alignment on our visions and that Luca would be a real advantage of our group.

“We would like to thank Luca and his team for their support through this process, and we look forward to welcoming him at Swanse.com Stadium for all of us as soon as possible.”
