With almost no news on the agenda and weak trading during the short holiday week, technology stocks were a particularly big drag. The S&P Technology sector fell by 1.8%, followed by the Consumer Discretionary Products sector, with a decline of 1.6%. The communications services sector decreased by 1.2%.
