Lawson insists that there is nothing about his driving style that made RB21 a special challenge for him, but it simply needs more time to adapt.
“For me, this is not,” Lawson said. “It is difficult to drive the car. But we were going through the process of making this modification.
“For me, it’s time frankly. But the way the weekend went, in Formula 1, in the pre -season test, you are driving all day and have a lot of time to adjust and things like that. Frankly, the lack of time in the car is really the biggest thing for me that made it difficult to control.
“In every session we were going out, we were dealing with something a little unknown. It is not a driving style or something like that. It is just a literal modification. As for me, I had no time to do this.”
‘Verstapen I was surprised by the decision’
