Larry Kudlow: Mike Johnson is a common-sense conservative

Let’s re-elect House Speaker Mike Johnson quickly in order to get Trump’s boomer agenda moving at breakneck speed. This is what Reeve is about.

Last Monday, President Donald Trump He issued a strong endorsement for the re-election of House Speaker Mike Johnson.

“The American people need immediate relief from all of the destructive policies of the last administration,” Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is a good, hardworking, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to win. Mike has my full and complete endorsement.” MAGA!!!”

Then, on New Year’s Eve, while attending a Mar-a-Lago party, Mr. Trump reiterated his support for Speaker Johnson. I listen:

The IRS sets new tax brackets and increases the standard deduction for 2025

Donald Trump: “Oh, I think they’ll support Speaker Johnson. I think we’ll have a good time in Washington and I think we’ll get great support. He’s the guy who can win now. People like him. Almost everyone likes him.”

Add former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to the list of endorsements for Johnson, who said in an interview that Republicans shouldn’t waste time on an ugly fight and that the GOP needs to get behind the sitting president: “They need a Republican unity platform for the Republican Party.” “The next two years.”

Any number of prominent figures in the Republican Party have endorsed Mike Johnson as speaker — and I am thrilled to add my name to the list. He is a supporter of supply-side growth Tax deductions. He’s a hard-line hawk when it comes to closing the border, stemming Biden’s flood of illegal immigration, and eliminating terrorism here at home. He is a man of law and order. He is a supporter of “Train, Kid, Train” and believes in Trump’s “America First” “Peace Through Strength” foreign policy.

In other words, Speaker Johnson is a common-sense conservative who was easily accessible to the media. The House of Representatives will convene tomorrow to begin the work of the 119th Congress, electing the Speaker of the House as the first matter.

I would remind people that on Monday, January 6, the House must vote to certify the presidential election, but without a speaker, the House cannot certify. If the House, along with the Senate, cannot ratify, President-elect Trump may not become President Trump on January 20. Think about it! So, this is no time to slow down. The Republican Party in the House and Senate should hit the ground running.

According to senior advisers close to President Trump, he wants to see a “big, beautiful bill” on his desk from both chambers of Congress, as quickly as possible. This bill would include tax cuts, closing borders, fossil fuel and permit reforms, and promoting “peace through strength” defense.

During the campaign, Mr. Trump’s working-class coalition repeatedly promised bigger wallets, extra wages, tax cuts, cheaper energy, closed borders, and so on. I made promises, I kept promises. A big, beautiful reconciliation bill that brings together all the fiscal policy issues, and requires just a 51-vote majority in the Republican Senate.

Let the blue collar boom begin immediately. The House has already passed HR1. On energy, HR2. On immigration. Congressman Jason Smith’s Ways and Means Committee has been working on the Trump tax cuts for much of the past year.

Sen. Mike Crapo is ready to deliver a major Senate tax cut finance Committee. The entire bill could be completed before mid-year, and would help President Trump fulfill his overwhelming mandate for change.
