At least two people were killed and 54 were wounded, including children, in a Russian missile overnight a capital attack in Ukraine Kiev, the mayor says.
Vitali Klitschko says that the fall of the drone wreckage raised a number of fires in the city, and there are fears that a number of people may be besieged under the ruins of a devastating residential building.
The government emergency service in Ukraine DSNS later reported nine killed and 63 injuries, indicating the initial data.
The explosions were also reported by local officials in the northeastern city of Kharkif, which was also attacked. At least two people were injured.
In a post on social media, Mayor Klitchko wrote that six children and a pregnant woman were among the injured in the Russian attack overnight.
“The fires erupted in six sites,” he said, adding that there are “people under the rubble” of a devastating residential building.
Rescue teams were seen combing through the debris while searching for the survivors.
Klitschko said the worst blow was the western Svyoshinski area in the capital.
Footage of social media that appeared to show the missiles hit Kiev, which led to a massive burning.
In Kharkiv, about 40 km (25 miles) from the Russian border, two people were injured, the Mayor Terekhov said.
He said that “private homes” were damaged in Russian missiles and Russian aircraft during the night.
Air Force has warned Ukraine that all regions in the country were at the threat of air strikes.
The Russian army did not comment on the reported attacks.
