Krishna Srinifasan of the International Monetary Fund: India must enhance the private investment to meet the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047

India continues the superiority of its peers in the Asia Pacific region with an expected growth rate of 6.2 % in 2025 and 6.3 % in 2026, according to Krishna Surinifasan, director of the Asia Pacific Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). However, it warns that if India wants to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047, it must significantly increase the private investment.

“India has shown flexibility,” said Serinivasan, noting that its growth reviews were smaller compared to other countries due to the lesser exposure to global trade shocks. However, private sector investment is still a concern. “If India is forced to reach the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047, then the private investment really needs to pick up.”

According to the regional economic expectations of the International Monetary Fund for the Pacific, the wider region in the Asia Pacific region faces the opposite winds with the expected growth to slow to 3.9 % in 2025 and 4 % in 2026. Countries like Cambodia and Vietnam are highly exposed to the United States market, making it vulnerable to high definitions on definitions and global trade.

Despite fluctuations in stock markets, bond markets remained relatively stable. Serenivasan emphasized the need to enhance local requests, diversify supply chains, and to increase within the regional regional trade-only 21 % in Asia.

According to the report, India’s strengths lies in its adoption of artificial intelligence between large companies – which transport the region before Singapore, China and Latam – and pay the continuous infrastructure.
