‘Koi bhi mat aana Manali aur Solang’: Social media user warns tourists after heavy snowfall halts 2,000 vehicles

Amid heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh’s Manali and Solang Valley, more than 1,800 vehicles were left stranded on the roads, prompting a social media user, caught in a jam, to warn others against visiting the area.

On Instagram, Chlucky Tyagi shared a video showing motionless traffic along the Solang Valley-Atal tunnel route. He urged would-be tourists to rethink their plans and warned: “Koi bhi mat aana!” (Don’t come!)”

In a video shared on Saturday, December 28, Chlucky Tyagi warned that heavy snowfall is expected in the next 3-4 days, anticipating worsening road conditions in the region.

The clip, which was filmed at night, showed a long line of vehicles paralyzed on snow-covered roads. Tyagi stated that he was stranded since 10 am and expressed uncertainty about when and how they could leave the area.

Tyagi also mentioned that even the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s (SDM) car was caught in the same traffic jam next to it.

Himachal Police said that several vehicles and travelers who were stranded due to heavy snowfall warnings were successfully rescued.

Speaking to ANI, Manali DSP KD Sharma stated that the rescue operation began after more than 2,000 vehicles became stuck between Solang Valley and Atal Tunnel due to extreme weather conditions.

Sharma revealed that nearly 1,800 vehicles have been safely evacuated, while about 200 vehicles are still stranded.

Shimla and higher areas of Himachal Pradesh have been facing continuous heavy rain and snowfall for the past two days, causing landslides and major disruption to daily life.

The state Meteorological Department expects light to moderate snowfall in the central and upper highlands on December 27, 28 and 29.

Light rain is also expected over the plains and low hills during this period.

The weather is expected to remain dry statewide on December 30 and 31, with light snowfall and rain resuming in the mid and high hills on January 1.
