Former football player Joy Barton obtained a 12 -week prison sentence after he was convicted of assaulting his wife at his home in June 2021.

Barton denied the assault by beating during an argument between the spouses in their family’s home. The reconciliation Westminster court was told that his wife, Georgia, suffered from bleeding and bruises as a result of the accident.

At the same court on Tuesday, the chief judge Paul Goldsbring rejected Barton’s account of “mysterious” events as he convicted him of a single assault by beating after a two -day trial.

Prosecutor Helena Duong told the court that Mrs. Barton 999 to the police on the night of the accident was “convincing evidence” of the attack, as she described it in “clear conditions”.

The Prosecutor said that Mrs. Barton was not affected by alcohol, as she and Parton suggested.

Mrs. Dong said that the bloody Mrs. Barton’s nose was “an injury that really requires an explanation,” adding: “It was clear, which is not caused by an accident.”

Barton was told by the court that he confessed to entering into a debate with his wife, but he denied that anything “material” had happened.

Simon Sika, the defense of Barton, said it is not clear what time between Mrs. Barton received the injury and a 999 call.
