Max Versaben produced one of the best weekends in his F1 career to win the Japanese Grand Prix-Did the world champion four times McLaren a warning that the title of this year’s title may be at least a triple battle?
McLaren came on the weekend as a strong favorite because of the nature of Suzuka’s design, which, on paper, fits their car.
They also won the season races in Australia and China, with two dominant in the latter, which indicates an excellent race in both the grand prize.
However, Verstapn disk with the SUZUKA roll record before getting rid of McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar PiaSSTRI in the race to cut Norris progress in the order to one point after three rounds.
The director of the Red Paul Christian Horner described “Inch Perfect” because he won his first victory in the year after he finished second and fourth in Australia and China, respectively.
The result gives McLaren something to think about it, although Woking’s -based outfit contains the fastest car on the network for a third weekend in a row.
Horner: Verstapen is currently the best driver in the world
Horner said: “It appears at the end of this week if you continue to work hard and not to give up anything possible.
“That was one of the best weekends in Max. Without any discussion, he is the best driver in the world now. The hard work has been completed (in the qualifiers) but it was perfect in the race.
“We worked hard to give him a car that could extract more than others and drove the wheels, and he was amazing. Another Chekhen was to have been enough.
“It is like Mr. Dotivator for us and there is no more incentive than winning. We know that this car has some vices and we know where we need to improve.”
VersApet won several races last year as it had no fastest car that has proven decisive as he ended 63 points before Norris and 81 of PiaSSTRI.
In response to a question about whether he is now expecting to compete in every race to go forward, starting with the Grand Prix in Bahrain next week, the Dutch said: “I do not think so. We still have a job to do it. But this shows that if we live everything, we can be there.
“We want to be better than being there at times. We hope to continue to improve the car and cancel insurance a little more. To fight for the title, we need more.”
Norris: Verstapen’s victory is not a surprise
Norris expects a battle with Verstapen throughout the year and has not shocked the performance of its amazing rival in Japan.
McLaren driver said: “I don’t think there is a reason to surprise MAX. I don’t think I was at all. I don’t need anyone to tell me what Max is able to do.
“I know how good it was since we shook hands in 2015 or something like that – I was half the height I am now.
“I still think we will have some good races and we can go to the soles of the feet and that in some days it will be released at the top and others will do.
Andrea Stella, director of the McLaren team, accepts that Versabpen represents a threat to his team but feels that it will be difficult for the ruling world champion to compete throughout the season if he is not in the fastest car.
Stella said: “When Max raises the game a lot, you need to rolls in the qualifiers and bring any potential millimeter,” Stella said.
“We hope that all the circles will not be this level of the deterioration of tires (in Japan) and other circuits that we will be able to use our full potential, which I think remains the best car.
“Max happens the difference by himself, but it is very difficult to keep up with 24 events in one season if you don’t have the best car.”
Sky Sports Pundit – World Champion 1997 – Jacques Villeneuve also provided a warning word for Red Bull, adding: “Max will always be there to seize anything he can, but this is a car that will suffer in heat and become more difficult.”
