Smart lights make an excellent addition to Smart house Settings, whether you want to light up your external space for entertainment or upgrade your internal lighting. But the most popular option can be expensive. To say that I spent the moment of Lightbulb recently while testing the smart lights in IKEA will be ridiculous – so I will not. But it was to reveal that we learn that there are smart lamps that are very capable of the cost of Philips Hue. IKEA may not be known for smart lighting, but it may be so.

IKEA smart lighting covers all rules: the ability to withstand costs, local control, excellent remote control tools and tons of lighting products to create countless groups. Certainly these options deserve to be considered, especially if you are a beginner looking to enter a budget friend to the smart home world.

My smart philosophy was always at home to buy cheap and reliable. There is almost no point in buying a $ 200 smart lighting key when you can get the same basic features at less than $ 30. The luxurious software tricks of the Pricier model do not reach anything when a few people use it.

IKEA smart house offers are satisfying these requirements at prices that will offer Philips Hue Black, especially for remote controls and sensors:

Remote control Movement Communication sensor
IKEA Steerbar ($ 14) IKEA Valman (9 dollars) IKEA Parasol ($ 12)
Philips Hue Tap Switch Mini ($ 50) Philips Hue Motion ($ 45) Philips Hue Secure ($ 40)

I will not dig in many smart lighting products from any brands. But I will notice that IKEA has an advantage over pricing while choosing a larger passion. the Smart centers for IKEA ($ 70) and Philips Hue ($ 60) offers similar features, but the price difference is almost not clear. IKEA sensor prices have won even most budget brands such as Sonoff and Thirdready.

IKEA excels in local smart home controls

IKEA’s secret ingredient is that most of its smart lighting devices use the Zigbee Smart Home protocol, which means that it can be operated without Wi-Fi connection. Zigbee also allows connecting up to 10 smart lamps with a distance iKEA dimension (or sensor) without concentration. It is ideal for beginners as you can always add a center later to smart home controls such as scheduling, distance and automation.

Local control also extends to the IKEA smart center, Deerigira. It connects your router and allows anyone to register in the Ikea Home Smart app on your Wi-Fi network to the controls-even without internet connection. It is also possible to prepare access from a distance online, but this is equal to the session on a smart center.

IKEA remotely on the wall

A remote control in IKEA is clean and simple, in line with the simple scandi aesthetic for the brand.

IKEA Zigbee Etisalat also helps to extend the battery life on remote controls and sensors. Contrary to a fixed connection with Wi-Fi, Zigbee only communicates with a axis when sending and receiving orders. In other words, Zigbee devices sits mainly even need. They will slowly drain a battery like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Another Zigbee feature is the intelligent house compatibility. This means that IKEA Zigbee devices work with most other smart centers that support Zigbee: Amazon Echo, SmartTHings, Philips Hue and so on.

Remote control devices at my favorite smart home

I have used remote controls in IKEA in my smart home for years.

I use IKEA Tradfri Remote controls with Samsung SmartThings Smart Hub, which controls various Zigbee and Wi-Fi devices. As a tenant, I don’t want to run my property manager by switching my hard lighting keys, so remote controls from IKEA are an ideal setting for my smart home.

IKEA control remotely controls the Sengled Smart lamps and Kasa smart clips with frequent scenes and orders, so I don’t have to find my phone or a voice assistant request. In addition, remote control devices are a great choice to prevent guests from unintentionally stirring from my lighting keys – tables and scenes do not run when the smart lamp is turned off. I love magnetic installation panels, which strategically placed on my light keys. (It is not the most elegant solution, but it is at least practical.)

However, remote controls in IKEA are not perfect. The oldest tradfri models in my smart house have a lifeline lifetime due to the use of a small battery for practical cells. IKEA seems to have learned from this by turning into larger AAA batteries in newer models like Rodret and Styrbar. AAAS is an excellent upgrade where you can find re -charging versions and reduce electronic waste.

Note that My SmartTHings Hub does not support the advantage of obfuscation on IKEA remote controls, and that the latest remote remote controls require little work behind the scenes on SmartThings Forum To run. If you want a remote option with less programming, recommend using Dirigerra Hub.

Fortunately, it supports the Dirigera axis Amazon Alexaand Apple’s house and Google House – You can easily contact these smart home settings. There is also experimental support for topic. I have successfully linked Dirigera to SmartTHings via the material – all IKEA lamps were ready to suit the rest of my regular.

Tons of smart lighting variables

As of this writing, IKEA sells more than 150 smart lighting options online – most of these smart lighting sets with different LED lights, installations, remote controls and accessories. However, there are an amazing number of smart lamp options standard (E26), Candidra (E12) and Tracking lighting (Gu10) matches. Likewise, many light -designed lighting fixtures, lighting panels and lighting ribbons can connect to the Dirigera Center.

However, there are not many options for multi -colored lights like Philips Hue and other competing brands. IKEA sells a lot of models at adjustable color temperature, which is one feature that I use again and again at home: soft white tones to relax and daylight while working.

IKEA sells some other types of smart home appliances outside smart lighting, but the only thing that highlights is choice Automated curtains. The biggest restriction with Ikea Smart Shades is to find the right size for your window, so it’s difficult for me to recommend it.

All in all, it is worth thinking about IKEA smart lighting products, especially if you are on a budget. It is not an ideal solution, but it is practical enough for most people.
