A technology professional from Bengaluru has accused his former boss of fostering a toxic work environment after leaving his position at the Indian branch of an American workforce management company. In a LinkedIn post dated December 20, the employee detailed his struggles during his short tenure, citing issues such as micromanagement, an overwhelming workload, and an over-focus on simple mistakes as primary reasons for the difficulties he faces in the workplace.
The technology professional, who previously worked at Amazon and Revolut, explained that he joined the company on September 9, 2024 with enthusiasm and a willingness to adapt, despite having no previous SaaS (Software as a Service) experience. He stated that he openly admitted his lack of experience during the interview process and was willing to learn. However, he alleged that the organization did not provide adequate training or guidance to support his growth and enable him to succeed.
The employee claimed that he was expected to keep up with the performance of his experienced colleagues without adequate support. “I was new to the system, the payroll process, and Salesforce, but was not getting constructive guidance on these tools or processes,” he wrote. He also explained that he had not learned how to properly log rest periods, which resulted in the system automatically marking him as offline during short periods of inactivity, which added to his difficulties.
He also accused his manager of prioritizing minor infractions over meaningful support, such as focusing on instances where he exceeded break times by one minute. Instead of providing constructive feedback or assistance to improve his performance, the manager emphasized these trivial issues.
The employee expressed frustration with the workload, noting that he was assigned to handle 35-40 cases per week, often with additional assignments given just before the end of his shift. This led to frequent overtime, as well as what he described as a lack of empathy or flexibility from his manager. He added: “When I raised concerns about extended working hours and asked for guidance on managing my workload, I was met with dismissive responses such as: ‘You should resolve your open cases any way you please, in any way you prefer.’”
He also stressed that strict monitoring of rest periods and unclear protocols add to the challenges he faces. He claimed that the strict focus on delays or minor errors fostered a stressful and demotivating work environment.
Another former employee at the same company confirmed the allegations, sharing his “very bad experience” with the organization’s work culture in a post on LinkedIn. The second employee’s warning to others to avoid the company further underscored the claims of a toxic work environment.
The Bengaluru-based tech professional’s employment ended in less than four months, a decision he linked to the difficulties he faced during his tenure. Despite his eagerness to adapt and grow, he expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of effective mentorship and leadership.
These accusations have sparked widespread online discussions about workplace culture, especially within the Indian management teams of multinational companies. To date, neither the organization nor the director involved in these allegations has issued an official response.
