Black Mirror: Bandersnatch in 2018 was the first step for Netflix in interactive films – which some people consider video games. the Broadcast service Then I pushed to the games 2021And since then it has turned into some of the most popular chain, such as Squid gameIn mobile games.
On Thursday, Netflix released Thronglets game alongside The seventh season of the black mirror. What makes this game different from other Netflix games, such as Very hot to deal withThronglets is a game inside Black Mirror Universe, and it is present in the episode called Plaything from the last season.
The presence of characters in a series playing a game, then allowing subscribers to play the same game, opens new ways for people to interact with the stories that Netflix tells. After watching the episode and playing the game before the release of both, I thought, “Is this a joke? Where are the cameras?”
The entire experience made me feel uncomfortable, and certainly this is the point, because I can see myself getting lost in the crowd. Not to the extent that the main character in PlayThing is separated, but enough to make me want to pay alerts the game sends to my iPhone when you ask for help.
Thronglets is a game inside Mirror Black. You can already play
Black Mirror’s Episode PlayThing is a tragedy and follows the cycle of drafting that lasted for the years of Cameron Walker (played by Luis Ghariba and Peter Kabaldi). In the years of his youth, he became involved in the universe game, which has not yet been released-it was guessed-the crowd. We meet Walker after years when the police tell how he devoted his life to the game.
One of the alerts you send to your phone if you enable the alerts.
The game was developed inside the episode by the developer of the fictional game Colin Retman (Will Polater) and Tuckersoft, from the interactive Bandersnatch.
Retman describes the crowds as the first creatures in history whose biology is completely digital, and these creatures are able to learn and expand. This leads to devastating consequences for Walker and around him.
Netflix simulates that experience, allowing you to play and raise one crowd to a wide and expanded society. Thus, you can engage with digital creatures like Walker in the show. The game and the episode work together to present a deeper experience for storytelling.
Here’s how to start therronglets on Netflix games, and what you should know about the game.
What are the crowds?
In the game, they are yellow creatures with one antenna and large ears that multiply Division – I was divided into full and complete weeds. However, the first crowd is hatching from an egg, and in the game, you should click on the eggs to get them to hatch.
Can you control the crowds?
You can’t. As Ritman says in the show, “It is not some outrageous dolls like a hedgehog Sonic.” The crowd wanders and interacts with things on its own, but you don’t only see them in the game.
The crowd resemble a kind of tamagotchis in that they require food, entertainment and hygiene. You can present these things to the crowds by dropping digital apple and beach balls on the screen or cleaning a crowd with virtual soap and sponge.
You have to provide your crowds with what they need to grow and prosper.
You can take advantage of the individual crowds to see if they need food, entertainment or shower, as three bars bearing the name Fed and Wighted and Plean. If each of these bars are full, the crowd is happy. But if the federal reserve is low, for example, you can give a crowd of an apple by dropping it near it, and you will eat apples. Likewise, if it is low, then drop a beach ball near the crowd and watch it kicking the ball through the screen for fun.
Sometimes, the crowd will display the speech bubble with an apple or beach ball to tell you what you want. At other times, the dirty crowd will appear clearly and need a bath. Sometimes, the crowd will sit and seem to be crying – which is sad to see it, and I just want to embrace it.
If you don’t meet the crowd’s needs, you will die, in the end it will decompose until there is nothing but the bones.
The crowds can talk to you. They will ask you questions and suggest how you should continue, such as using Thronglet bones to build a bridge to another ground space.
Wait … what?
Yes, it is a hideous proposal. But this leads to another side of the game. You are not only concerned with the basic needs of Thronglets, but you also learned how to behave towards each other.
The crowd will ask you questions like, what is the strength? What is love? Two responses will be presented to choose from. Later in the game, when the crowds begin to manufacture, they will ask you if they should sleep in their homes as much, or work more. You can respond as you want, but it is important to remember that the crowd see you as a strong entity and you will do what you say.
Spider-Man taught me about power, and now I am passing this knowledge to you, Throngelet.
So when I told the crowd not to work hard and sleep as much as they needed, they took my advice to the heart, which led to the growth of slower resources. But they started happier.
This is the result that many options that the crowds offer – whether you accumulate resources more or less, quickly. Most of the options I chose were more peaceful, such as not using the bones to build a bridge, and thus resulted in a slower production. But these options did not stop or stop the game. It is not clear to my time to play the game’s feature in the game is to choose less violent options for harmful options, and vice versa. However, I tried to choose the Kinder’s approach – I can’t bring myself to run an evil from any game.
Your actions also affect how you see the crowds. Once, I accidentally killed a crowd with a chain saw when you cut some trees. From this procedure, a box appeared on the screen to inform me of this may know the crowds that the tools can be dangerous. It is unclear whether these cases have any effect on the game other than some comic relief, but I am still trying to reduce future accidental deaths or workplace accidents.
After each stage, you will see a screen with different statistics, such as the number of crowds that died. You will also see the notes made by the crowds about you during the stage. Once, I noticed the crowd that I taught them Shakespeare-which made my English heart very proud.
I also let some crowds die from the disease. Sorry, crowd.
What is the goal of the crowd?
This is a great question. For me, my goal was to help the crowds in any possible way. Sometimes, this means building a theater for entertainment or cleaning toxic waste and pollution to keep it in good health. At other times, this meant the shooting of them in the abyss from space or fat in their lands so that they could advance – I swear, they insisted that these were the right things.
But since it is unclear how my choices affected the game and raising the crowds, it is likely that the goal is to make the crowds progress as quickly as possible. This would mean much more sacrifices for the greatest good.
But like Reteman asks for playing, “Why do you need a goal?”
Well, then I think my answer is yes.
Anything else is interesting about the game?
The most interesting thing in this game for me has no relationship with Thronglets itself, but with how Netflix uses different forms of media to tell interlocking stories. Thronglets is another step in creating Netflix’s story for the most remedial storytelling story through games and other media, not just movies and TV series.
When I started playing the crowds after watching the Black Mirror Episode PlayThing game, I felt strange. Interacting with this piece of media that has severe consequences in the exhibition, I dragged me into thinking that I was playing with fire. I know the game is just a game, but it felt that the game was dangerous in some way – I know how uncomfortable it.
I also could only feel that while I was playing this game, I was isolating myself from others, like Walker at the show. Walker begins neglecting the world around him to care for crowds, and I will spend time playing the game and ignoring the world around me as well. I was granted, I was not arrested because of the young yellow men – but I did not take drugs to communicate with them.
The game did not make me more sympathetic to Walker. I understand that Walker was afraid of the world, as Retman indicates early in the episode, and thus Walker retracts this digital world to help these creatures.
Walker says early in the episode that games are a kind of escape, and the game and the episode may work alongside to refute it. They may try to say that even if we find consolation in games like Thronglets because the outside world is scary, we may still face something in games, like a bridge made of bones.
I can see Netflix makes more game connections like this in the future to deepen the level of narration of the stories provided by the service. I am looking for what is the next tie-perhaps one of the Arcade games from Stranger Things?
