Haitro Airport, one of the most busy airlines in the world, will remain closed throughout the day on Friday due to the large power outage caused by a large fire near the airport.
The closure was confirmed by airport officials, who indicated that the fire arose at an electrical sub -station to supply Heathrow. “To maintain the safety of our passengers and colleagues, Heathrow will be closed until 23 hours on March 21,” the airport said X.
In response to the fire, the London Fire Brigade stated that a transformer on the sub -station in Hayes, in western London, has caught fire. Nearly 70 firefighters and 10 firefighting engines, which were reported for the first time, were published at 11:23 pm local time on Thursday.
“It is expected that the turmoil will increase with the advancement of the morning, and we urge people to avoid the area whenever possible,” said the assistant commissioner Pat Gulborn.
The authorities evacuated about 150 residents from nearby areas and established a cordon of 200 meters as a preventive measure. Firefighters also helped 29 individuals from the neighboring real estate to safety.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Heathro Airport for passengers advised to avoid traveling to the airport and contacting airlines for more updates.
