Five years after the original Harvey Winstein trial #Tooo, a burning account of one of the most powerful Hollywood figures, the former studio president will be tried again after the Court of Appeal delivered historical rape.
The opening data was determined on Wednesday in a six -week trial.
It is happening in the same Manhattan court as his first trial, and it is expected that two defendants who witnessed after that.
But the retrial of Winstein plays in a different cultural moment from the first, which occurred during the peak of the #Metoo movement. And the re -prepared charges, faces an additional claim from a woman who did not participate in the first case.
The jury calculates seven women and five men-unlike the committee consisting of seven people, from five women condemned in 2020-and there is a different judge.
The #Metoo movement, which exploded in 2017 with allegations against Winstein, also evolved and alienated.

At the beginning of the first trial of Winztein, the “rapist” chants can be heard from the demonstrators abroad.
TV trucks lined up on the street, and journalists journalists for hours for a seat in the crowded courtroom. His lawyer criticized the “carnival -like” and fought in vain to obtain the trial from Manhattan.
This time, though, over five days of choosing the jury, there was nothing of it.
These facts, along with a ruling from the New York Appeals Court last year, abrogated his conviction for 2020 and a 23-year prison sentence-because the judge had testified about allegations that Winztein did not accuse-everything from the retrial to the legal strategy to the air.
Facing accusations of an old and new criminal law
Winstein, 73, on charges of the Criminal Nationality Law, is re -equipped with oral sex to auxiliary and television assistant, Myriam Haley, in 2006 and a third -class rape on charges of assaulting an ambitious representative, Jessica Man, in the Manhattan Hotel room in 2013.
Winstein also faces criminal sexual charges for having been forced to have sex on a different woman at the Manhattan Hotel in 2006. Prosecutors said that the woman, who was not publicly called, advanced days before his first trial but was not part of this case. They said they had reconsidered their allegations when he was convicted.
The Associated Press generally does not define people who claim sexual assault unless they agreed to naming, as Haley and Man did.
Winstein acknowledged that he was not guilty and denies rape or sexual assault on anyone. His two continents to the most dangerous charges in the trial of 2020-predatory sexual abuse and first-class rape-stand.
Lindsay Goldbrom, the lawyer who has not been named the accused, said that the retrial of Winztein represents “a pivotal moment in the struggle for accountability in cases of sexual assault” and “a sign of other survivors that the regime is chasing – and deserves to speak even when it seems that the difficulties are not possible.”

This time, the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Manhattan Province is prosecuting Winstein through the Special Victims Department, which specializes in such cases, after the veterans of the killing have held the 2020 edition.
Meanwhile, Winstein added several lawyers to his defense team – including Jennifer Bonjin, who is involved in the resumption of rape of 2022 in Los Angeles. Bill Kosby helped his condemnation and defend R. Kelly in the case of sex crimes.
“This trial will not be about #Metoo. It will be about the facts of what happened,” said Arthur Edala, the main lawyer in Winstein. “This is a big problem. This is the way you are supposed to be.”
But there was some talk about #Metoo already. The prosecutor asked the potential jurors if they had heard about the movement. Most of them said they have, but they will not affect them in both cases.
Others went further.
A woman saw that “it was not done enough” as a result of #Metoo. A man explained that he had negative feelings about that because his high schoolmates were accused of sexual assault.
Another man said that he saw #Metoo like other social movements: “It is a pendulum. He swings in one way, then in the other direction, then settles.”
None of them is in the form of jury.
