The Indian women’s cricket team made a strong start to the three-match ODI series against the West Indies Women by registering a dominant 211-run win over the tourists in the first match on Sunday, December 22, thanks to their strong all-round effort at the Kuttambi Stadium in Vadodara.

One of the standout moments came in the 11th over of the West Indies chase, when India women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur left one out and stunned everyone with her stunning fielding effort in the opener of the three-match ODI series at the Kutambi Stadium in Vadodara.

As Aaliyah Allen, looking to go beyond mid-on, struck the ball cleanly and powerfully, the India Women’s captain made a stunning one-handed catch, leapt high to reach the ball and made a stunning one-handed pull to dismiss the West Indies star.

The ball was moving quickly and Alleyne’s shot looked to be heading towards the boundary, but Harmanpreet Kaur’s athletic leap and timely reach allowed her to snatch the ball out of the air.

However, the way the India women’s captain controlled the ball in the air, prevented it from sliding and turned a potential boundary into a stunning moment was an impressive part of her effort.

Her quick reflexes and athleticism were on full display, leaving fans and players in awe, as Aaliyah Allen was once again sent to the dugout for just 13 runs off 23 balls in the first ODI in Vadodara.

This match saw Harmanpreet return to action after missing the last two T20Is against West Indies due to a knee problem. She made an impressive comeback, scoring a quick 34 off just 23 balls before being run out, helping India post a competitive total of 314/9 on the board in the first ODI against the West Indies Women at the Kutambi Stadium in Vadodara.

Earlier, India’s innings started with a bang, thanks to a brilliant 110-run opening partnership between Smriti Mandhana and debutant Prakiti Rawal. Indian opener Smriti Mandhana missed her century by just nine runs, but was the top run-scorer for the home side in the opener of the three-match ODI series against West Indies.

She played an explosive innings of 91 runs off 102 balls with the help of 13 boundaries before falling to Zaida James. On the other hand, Prakiti Rawal made 40 runs off 69 balls.

In defense of the target, India Women were firmly in the game from the start, with Renuka Singh’s five-wicket haul helping the hosts restrict West Indies to just 123 runs to win the first ODI by 211 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Priya Mishra also got two wickets in the match.
