London – Google He is being prosecuted by more than 5 billion pounds ($ 6.6 billion) in possible damage in the United Kingdom due to allegations that the American technology giant had offended its “almost near” dominance in the online search market to raise prices.

A collective lawsuit submitted on Wednesday at the Court of Appeal in the UK competition claims that Google has misused its website to restrict competing search engines, thus strengthening its dominant location in the market and making itself the only vicable destination to announce online search.

It is brought by the Academic Competition Law or BROK on behalf of hundreds of thousands of UK -based organizations that have used Google’s search ads services from January 1, 2011, even when the claim was submitted. It is represented by the law firm Giradin Partners.

“Today, companies and institutions in the United Kingdom do not have a large or small, almost option except to use Google ads to announce their products and services,” Brock said in a statement on Tuesday. “Organizers all over the world described Google as a monopoly and a spot on the best Google pages necessary for vision.

“Google has benefited from its hegemony in the search market and the general advertisement of excessive advertisers,” she added. “This collective action revolves around Google accountability for its illegal practices and the search for compensation on behalf of the UK advertisers who have been overwhelmed.”

Google was not immediately available for comment when contacting it by CNBC.

The market study from 2020 from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) – the competition organizer in the United Kingdom – found that 90 % of the total revenue in the market announcement market obtained Google.

The lawsuit claims that Google has taken a number of steps to restrict competition competition, including entering deals with smart phone makers to install Google Search and Chrome on Android devices and pay billions Apple to make sure that Google is the default search engine on Safari.

It also claims that Google guarantees that ADS Search Search Tool 360 offers better functions and more features with their advertising products more than competitors.
