Since my first trip to Disneyland in California for honeymoon, I loved fireworks over the castle. My family was holding passes while we lived in California, but since we moved to Virginia, we were unable to visit any of the parks. I recently got an opportunity to test Elegoo Orangestorm GigaThe three -dimensional printer is very large for me that I recommend a graybodi, but it is ideal for bringing my family’s love to Disney gardens to life.
You can use 3D printing for many different projects. From simple repairs to complex technical endeavors, there are few things that you cannot make using a good 3D printer and some elbow fat. I am a test The best 3D printers For a living, allowing me to reach machines of different sizes, and I need to test them in multiple ways. This usually means using small models of varying levels of complexity and details to put the printer through its steps. Sometimes, though, I would like to make things happy.
Idea
The original idea of this was not surprising, from Tiktok. Alex Cararo Make a Disney Castle and then use a YouTube video on it. The goal is to make the 3D printed castle look like one of the fireworks shows that occur every night in Disney Gardens. It looked simple enough, and although Alex printed the Disney World Castle to suit a standard 3D printer – about 250 x 250 x 250 mm – I wanted to hit greater and have technology to do so.
My plan to print three -dimensional for Disneyland Castle was instead of Disney World Castle. It looks different: one of them is the Sleeping Beauty Castle, the other is Cinderella, and I have the castle in Disneyland. Fortunately, Alex was aware of the preferences of others and designed 3D models from both castles. So I bought the model and settled to work in setting the form to match my vision. The projection video is located only in the central area of the castle, and the model appears completely, including the barrier walls along the edge. This was unnecessary for the final product, so I cut it away using Microsoft’s Handy, and now 3D builders. Once I had the model looking the way I wanted, it was the matter to print.
It is difficult to estimate the size of this printer. But it is huge.
It is difficult to describe the Orangestorm Giga 3D printer. The construction area is 800 x 800 x 1000 mm (or 31 in 39 inches) and four building boards are used 400 x 400 mm for printing. When it was DeclareI was excited to try it, and although it is very fun to play with him, I don’t think it is appropriate for you, dear reader. It is complicated to run, and requires a lot of care to get it to print properly and is very large for anyone who has no workshop. However, if you have a lot of space, a lot of patience and $ 2,500 to spare it, you can make some great things with it.
Once you set the printer to the point that you thought could deal with the work, I started printing the newly cut model. You have expanded the original design range until it is 700 mm once it was finished. The type of file you use for 3D printing, called STL files, can handle a large amount of expansion, although it can start to lose the definition in smaller details. This did not happen here, because the castle is really just an empty list of the image to be distinguished so that its details are very consistent.
A large ball of OverTure was needed to achieve this.
In general, printing lasted slightly more than 85 hours to complete it. This may seem to be a long time, but printing a three -dimensional model, with the amount of materials that took it, is 85 hours. To give you some context, five years ago, I printed the Mandalian helmets with a full size that took 125 hours of printing, and I used about a fifth of the material used by the castle.
It also used a large amount of materials. I used a 3 kg roll from OverTure Pla To print it, although I set the thyroid gland to 8 %, it still takes almost the entire list. It is heavy, but it also seems that it will not be broken in any small stumbling block. As installed on the wall, I wanted to be strong.
Add some pixel dust (spray coating)
I used two full boxes of primer filler to get soft.
To make it ready to drop, it needs some preparatory work. I used a cake filler for cars to help soften any layer lines that have appeared from printing. It took two boxes to give them the appropriate texture without filling the brick works. Next, I used two boxes of stone spray paint to give it a more beautiful look. Remember, I can’t draw dark colors or make them look like a castle colors. You should be an empty fabric, but at the same time, I want to look nice on the wall even when the show does not play. The stone color matches the wall that is well installed, and the rough texture gives the impression that it is not just a 3D plastic.
I thought about using Projector Paint to see if it would make fireworks look better, but they are very expensive. One bowl of latitude was more than $ 100 – more than all other materials combined – so it was not costly effective. The display will have to do the work.
The projection is a key (stone)
The projection is still not perfect, and I do not think it will be. It still looks great, but I am limited of technology to contact details. I use a small XGIMI view called Elfin. It is an older but still access to YouTube and Android TV, and most importantly, it is light and easy to set to get the appropriate angles to drop. Finding the right video was also important because it needed to reach certain criteria:
- It had to be photographed on Traibud
- The minimum should have been 1080 pixels
- It cannot make people walk in front of him
- The castle can only appear, not the rest of the main street
I finally found the appropriate video after a lot of search. the Dizfeed Disneyland forever The video is a sign of all boxes and had a nostalgia feature for me. Not only is the perfect video in terms of composition, but the fireworks showing the video is the exact display of my wife and I watched the next day of marriage. I watched this show itself in one of the happiest days in my life and now I can watch it every day on my homes.
Elfin has Keystone options, but that’s all I have to work with.
The next step is to adjust the image of the display to suit the printed 3D model scale. I did this by setting up the correction of the foundation on the display. Both Best display devices Allow you to adjust the projection shape to calculate the place where the display is placed. You may have seen the image on the screen looks like a trapezoid of more than one square. Keystone Correction allows you to fix this problem by withdrawing the corners.
For this project, Keystone Correction allowed to change the video size to suit the image of the 3D model as much as possible. Since the model comes out of the wall, it throws the shades behind it and can make the image look out of focus. You really have to decide which part of the image you want to be focused, and choose the large window in the foreground where most procedures occur. This is not perfect, and I will need to have many views that expect different angles to be perfect, but for the time being, I am happy with the result.
How can I make it better?
I think about fake clouds under it to make it look cooler.
The next steps to improve this project require some financial expenses. Keystone’s correction is designed on the display device that I have to be simple, but this means that it is not as comprehensive as I need it. I will need to buy a more expensive viewing device to change it. Another alternative is to use a laptop to adjust the video output for matching. This can succeed, but this means hiding a laptop behind the display, which is not perfect. I also think I can use Raspberry PI instead of a laptop. It will be much smaller and I can design something on a 3D print that will cover it as a whole. Maybe you make the shelf look like the main street?
Finally, some artificial clouds may only add it to make it look more satisfactory to the wall. It will not only make the castle floating in the sky, but it will also publish the bottom of the expected video and hide the point that it cuts, making it look more natural.
The collection of this project was very enjoyable, and reminded me of why I entered 3D printing in the first place. I wanted a way to express creativity and bring fun in my life, and this castle has alike. I have fireworks on most of the day, and when I really feel nostalgic, I will create the sound level and remember one of the best nights in my life.
All you need to get Disney fireworks at home
If you are interested in re -creating this in your home, and perhaps on a smaller scale, you have included everything you will need here, including the largest purchases that you may need like 3D printers and the display device.
