Sarah Win Williams, a former official in Meta, ignited a controversy in the Silicon Valley with her newly released memoirs, “Careless People: A Threather Tale of Power, Greed, Lost Perfultism”. The book offers an amazing criticism of the culture of Meta, its dealings with wrong information, and its role in global political events, including the 2016 US presidential election in Myanmar.

Who is Sarah Wayne Williams?

Wynn-Williams has been a long-term Facebook (Now Meta), as she played an important role in the company’s government affairs department. She was responsible for managing political and organizational relations, especially in the Asia and Pacific markets. However, her mandate ended in 2017 under circumstances that she claims to be related to her concerns about the ethical mitta failures.

Brews against Mita

In the movie “Careless People”, Wynn-Williams accuses the leadership of Meta, including CEO Mark Zuckerberg and former operations director Sherrill Sandberg, of setting priorities for profit on moral considerations. It claims that the company’s commercial decisions enabled the spread of misconceptions and inciting violence, especially in Myanmar, where Facebook played a role in inflating hate speech against the Rohingya minority.

It also claims that Meta made moderate concessions to the Chinese government in an attempt to reach the markets – despite its general position against censorship policies in Beijing.

One of the most controversial demands in her book is that Meta executives actively sought to suppress the internal opposition, including her own attempts to raise warnings about the role of the platform in political intervention.

Win Williams continues to claim that she was a victim of sexual harassment by her former president, Joel Kaplan, who was then working as Facebook Vice President of Global Public Policy. She claims that after submitting a complaint, she faced revenge on the company. However, Meta denied these allegations, saying that an internal investigation in 2017 has cleared Kaplan from any violations. He now holds a senior international affairs employee.

Notes also include amazing claims about the previous Facebook Coo Sherly Sandberg. Wynn-Williams, who was carrying at the time, claims that during a private Davos plane flight to California in January 2016, Sandberg was repeatedly pressed by Sandberg “to share the bed” on board. When she refused, Win Williams claims to have tense her career.

A dead response

Meta strongly denied these allegations, and the displaced persons rejected that they were a “indignant activist”. The company confirms that Wynn-Williams was launched due to “weak performance and toxic behavior”, not for cost.

Moreover, Meta suggested that Wynn-Williams has received financial support from facebook anti-Facebook activists, describing her credibility as a question. The company also followed legal procedures to prevent it from promoting the book, citing the non -secession agreement that it signed while employing it in Meta.

Complaint

Besides her notes, Wynn-Williams has taken legal measures against Meta by submitting a complaint with violations to the US Securities and Stock Exchange Committee (SEC). The complaint is said to focus on Meta alleged modifications to content baptism policies to satisfy China – an accusation, if proven, can have significant regulatory effects on the technology giant.

The notes have received widespread attention to the media, as the Sunday Times described it as a “dark, dark and decisive exhibition” for Mita’s internal operations. The publisher McMelan stood by Win Williams, which led to dead attempts to silence her through legal pressure.
