Detroit (Reuters) -Motor Motor has announced discounts on many models that start on Thursday, futing their health stocks to provide clients with thousands of dollars as competitors raise their prices to accommodate the costs of customs tariffs.
The company confirmed that Ford will provide employee prices – a reduced rate available to its workers – for all customers, after Reuters reported the news on Wednesday. The program is called “from America for America”, which is available for American shoppers.
Michigan -based Automobile Industry Company is building 80 % of its locally sold by the United States, giving it a temporary store from US President Donald Trump’s tariff from some competitors. However, it still faces the possibility of highly declining fees on the parts of the imported vehicles.
The incentives apply to a lot of the squad, including compounds such as Mustang Mash and Mavrick that were built in Mexico. Some compounds, including their profitable super trucks, are exempt. Ford said the promotion continues until June 2.
Trump announced last week 25 % of imports on car imports, which sent shock waves across the global industry.
The United States is the largest importer in the world of cars, and nearly half of all the cars that were sold in the country were imported last year, according to the Globaldata Research Company.
On Wednesday, Trump expanded the tariffs to a 10 % basis line on all imports, with rates of some countries increasing. Ford shares fell after the declaration of the customs tariff, as it did at General Motors and Tesla.
While under Trump’s order, goods from Mexico and Canada, which complies with the USMCA trade agreement between the three countries, will remain largely exempt from customs tariffs, car exports, steel and aluminum under the policies of separate tariffs.
Barclays analysts said that Ford was better in setting definitions given the high percentage of US production, while competitors in General Motors and Kirisler parents produce about half of their vehicles in the United States locally.
Buyers rushed to many agents in recent weeks to pick up cars before increasing prices, enhancing car sales in March.
Many Ford distributors are stored more than average industry, according to Cox Automotive. Ford had more than four months of stock in February, above the average industry for nearly three months.
Cox also found that Ford incentives deals were slightly lower than the broader industry in February, when Ford deals reached 6.7 % of the average price of vehicle transactions, while the average industry was 7.1 %, or $ 3,392.
