Hundreds of houses and roads were flooded in Lanzarut, after heavy rains were swept through the canzi island on Saturday.

The Lanzarut government announced the state of emergency overnight after 6 cm (2.4 inches) of rain, which flowed on the famous holiday destination in just two hours.

No injuries were reported by the Spanish authorities – the emergency was raised on Sunday morning.

“A large amount of clay” left “a large amount of clay.”

“We have worked all night, and we attended 300 calls overnight, many of them in Arrecife and Teguise,” said Enrique Espinoza on Sunday.

Emergency services attended more than 150 accidents at Costa Teguise and more than 70 in Arrecife, local media reports.

The San Bartolumi region was badly damaged, according to the Lanzarut government.

Exciting footage on social media show a significant increase in flood water that flows quickly under the bridge, leaving cars that were cut off on the roads flooded by water.

Canary is particularly vulnerable to floods when it reaches intense rain, as its dry climate and volcanic rocks mean that the Earth does not absorb large amounts of water well.

The heavy rain came out of the back of the storm Olivier, which swept the Canary, Spain and Portugal in recent days – which led to many weather alerts.

The meteorological service in Spain issued weather warnings to many regions of the country from Sunday to Tuesday – including storms in the northeast, and rain in the Balearic Islands and winds in parts of the northern and southern coast.
