Enzo Maresca has made an incredible start to his life at Chelsea, but there is one decision that fans and pundits are still wondering about.
The Italian was brought to Stamford Bridge this summer to replace Mauricio Pochettino, and the former Leicester boss is currently second in the Premier League and top of the European Conference League.
Maresca has found a way to get Chelsea’s young crop of players performing, but the decision the 44-year-old made before kicking a ball this season is still being questioned by many in the football world.
The Blues coach decided so Making Robert Sanchez the number one goalkeeper for the seasonAlthough the London club signed the talented 22-year-old Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal over the summer.
Sanchez is considered a burden in Chelsea’s woods. The Spanish goalkeeper is an average goalkeeper who is not good at handling the ball at his feet, and tends to make mistakes that lead to scoring goals.
Despite this, Maresca has faith in the 27-year-old after starting him in all but one Premier League match during the first half of the season – which Jamie Carragher believes Chelsea will cost this season.
That won’t change anytime soon, the 44-year-old told the press on Friday.

The Italian coach said via: “The idea is not to change. We trust Robert.” Fabrizio Romano. “But also in this case, we have two good goalkeepers. Until they maintain the same level, we are happy with that.”
This is a decision that Maresca will live and die by as the season goes on because it is a choice that could ultimately have a huge impact on Chelsea’s season going forward.
