Donald Trump is “very angry” with Vladimir Putin about the ceasefire negotiations

Donald Trump said he was “very angry” and “angry” with Russian President Vladimir Putin weeks after trying to negotiate the ceasefire in Ukraine.

In an interview with NBC News, the US President said he was angry at Putin to attack Ukrainian President Voludmir Zelinsky, and threatened to impose a 50 % tariff on countries that buy Russian oil if he did not agree to a ceasefire.

He said: “If we are not able to Russia to conclude a deal about stopping the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if I think this was Russia’s mistake – which may not be … I will put a secondary tariff … on all the oil that comes out of Russia.”

Comments define a shift in Trump’s tone towards Putin and Russia.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

European leaders were concerned that Trump was abandoning Putin as negotiations on the ceasefire continued in Ukraine.

Over the past six weeks, Trump has distributed Zellinski in the Oval Office and demanded many privileges from the President of Ukraine. In turn, he lured Putin and greatly gave the Russian president’s demands.

This seems to be a departure from that dynamic. This is the first time that the United States has seriously threatened Russia with the consequences of withdrawing its feet in the ceasefire negotiations, which seem to have restored the diplomatic ball in the Moscow court.

NBC News reported that in a 10 -minute telephone interview, Trump said he was very angry and “angry” when Putin criticized the credibility of Zelinski’s leadership, although the president had described himself as a Ukraine leader as a dictator and demanded the elections.

“You can say that I was very angry, angry, when … Putin began to reach Zelinski’s credibility, because this is not going on the right site,” Trump said.

“The new leadership means that you will not take a deal for a long time,” he added.

Trump said that the Russians were aware of his anger, but he indicated that he had “had a very good relationship” with Putin and “anger was dissipated quickly … if he did the right thing.”

If Russia does not continue the ceasefire, Trump threatens to target its economy more if he believed it was Putin’s mistake.

“There will be a 25 % tariff for oil and other products sold in the United States, and secondary tariffs,” Trump said, noting that the customs tariff for Russia will come within a month without a ceasefire.

Secondary tariffs can constitute up to 50 % on goods that enter the United States from countries that still buy oil from Russia. The biggest of these buyers with a long margin are China and India.

Zelensky wrote on social media after the interview that “Russia continues to search for excuses to withdraw this war further.”

He said that “Putin plays the same game that he has since 2014,” when Russia has annexed the Crimea unilaterally.

“This is dangerous for everyone – and there should be an appropriate response from the United States, Europe and all our global peaceful partners.”

Trump said he would talk to Putin later in the week.
