The actor announced that he will also play the character King Lear in another film.

“Then I will retire,” Washington commented.

While Washington caused chaos among his ardent fans over his retirement rumors, he clarified his comments days after the Today interview.

He added: “I did not say that I would retire.” BuzzFeed said. “I said there had to be a level of interest for me. I’m more interested in being behind the camera, so it’s been about five years.”

“It’s very difficult. I might have used the word ‘retirement’, but I look at life in three parts: you learn, you earn, you come back. I’m in the good part of life.”
