Concept art for Kraven The Hunter reveals a canceled Venom crossover

Sony’s Spider-Man universe is basically dead. According to reports, The studio is no longer interested in making movies about Spider-Man without featuring the webslinger itselfwhose only appearance in these live-action films was a brief appearance in “Madame Web” as a newborn.

This makes sense, of course. This was, without a doubt, the most disastrous attempt at a cinematic universe since Universal’s Dark Universe. Almost none of the Sony Spider-Man villain movies have been loved by critics, audiences, or humans in general. There are definitely some fans of the “Venom” movies that… He does Enjoy some of the most bizarre and fun moments in a superhero movie trilogy in a while – like Venom turning into a gay symbol in a nightclub, or Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock climbing into a lobster tank. However, you can only go so far with a universe made up almost entirely of comic book villains who are forcibly transformed into anti-heroes.

We saw the effects of this in “Kraven the Hunter,” the last film in the Sony Spider-Man Universe. As Whitney Seibold wrote in his review for /Film, The film “is an incoherent and inept collection of well-worn superhero tropes hastily thrust upon an audience the filmmakers know they’ve long lost.” But at some point, there was discussion about injecting some venom into this movie.

Although this may be the last time Sony makes a Spider-Man movie that doesn’t focus entirely on Spider-Man, “Kraven the Hunter” was a surprise It has the advantage of having no connections to any of the other films. There’s not even a post-credits scene that teases a project that could entice audiences into wanting more Kraven. That’s a shame, because it would stand to reason that the only reason to create a cinematic universe of Spider-Man villains that didn’t include Peter Parker was to unite them all in a big Sinister Six-style crossover movie.

Sadly, that never happened, and other than a brief and very stupid encounter between Morbius and Vulture, none of these heroes have met each other in a Sony Spider-Man Universe movie. Except it could have happened.

Concept artist Jules Darriulat took to Instagram to share a piece of concept art for “Kraven the Hunter” that would see Sergei Kravinoff meet Venom himself (sort of). The deleted scene shows Venom lying half-dead in some desolate wasteland surrounded by other dead symbiotes. Given how out of place this feels in the main story of “Kraven the Hunter,” it’s likely that the scrapped scene was meant to be part of a post-credits scene or a nightmare sequence. Unfortunately, we may never know, let alone see Venom and Kraven meet.
