Paul Wall got real about the moment he learned about his race

Recently, Paul Wall came on The Breakfast Club and revealed that he didn’t realize he was white until white people started telling him. He shared how white people would come up to him and say, “You’re white, why do you talk and act that way?” It always left him confused.

The Texas spit said the moment hit him when he was young, perhaps in elementary or middle school. Paul explained that he grew up in a very “diverse” neighborhood in Houston, Texas, surrounded by black, Asian and Hispanic people.

He then joked with Charlamagne Tha God that he came home and “cried for his mother and called her because she didn’t tell him he was white.” Paul laughed with the morning crew and told us his mother had a DNA test, which showed she was “3% black.” The “Sittin’ Sidewayz” rapper went on to say that although his mother took a test, he has not taken a test himself to officially learn about his background.
