For months, there has been rampant speculation about Christopher Nolan’s follow-up to Oppenheimer, the three-hour epic that made him so popular. Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director. The cast is gradually coming together: Matt Damon, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway and Charlize Theron. Could it be a vampire flick? For a while, there’s been a funny rumor that Nolan was planning to remake John Badham’s police helicopter action film “Blue Thunder” — because apparently that’s how you spend your clout after winning two Oscars and making a $977 million masterpiece. .

What we can fully expect is that Nolan will devote all his filmmaking money to the story of Ulysses who makes the arduous journey home to Ithaca to be with his beleaguered wife Penelope. What I’m hoping for is a traditional version of the tale with sirens, an adventure at sea, and a huge giant. There’s always the possibility that Nolan will update the material and set it in the present day, which would be cool too! But as of now, I want to take a great big Greek epic shot and present it on 70mm film.
