Watch: Is the United States heading to stagnation? Three warning signs to watch

Chinese officials call on US President Donald Trump to “cancel” the so -called mutual definitions, setting a trade war between the world’s largest economists.

Trump announced this week a temporary stop of 90 days for a set of global customs tariffs that he planned, but increased fees on Chinese imports to 145 %.

“We urge the United States to take a major step to correct its mistakes, and to completely cancel the wrong practice of” mutual tariffs “and return to the correct path of mutual respect,” the Chinese Ministry of Trade said in a statement.

The Trump administration offered a privilege on Friday by announcing the exemption of some technological products – including many of them produced in China.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce described exemptions as a “small step” by the United States, and said Beijing was “assessing the effect” of this step.

Trump’s technological exemptions – which include smartphones, computers and semi -conductors – provided hope in technology giants and consumers who worry that the price of tools will rise as a result of tariffs.

But there was no immediate possibility of soluble in the protective position of the competitors.

The American commercial actor, Jameson Jarir, was asked whether Trump’s plans to speak with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, while appearing on CBS on Sunday.

“Now we have no plans for that,” he said.

Trump imposed a tariff of up to 54 % on product imports from China at the beginning of April, before escalating to the current 145 % average.

In its definitions, China imposed a 34 % fee on American goods, before increasing it to 84 % and then 125 %, which came into effect on Saturday.

By announcing the latest tariff, the China Ministry of Commerce said last week that it will “fight to the end” if the United States “insists on provoking the war of tariffs or trade war.”

Late Saturday, while traveling to Miami, Florida, Trump said he would give more details about the exemptions at the beginning of next week.

The White House has argued that he used the customs tariff as a negotiating tactic to extract more convenient commercial conditions than other countries.

Trump said his policy will disrupt the injustice in the global trading system, as well as return jobs and factories to the United States.

However, his interventions have seen huge fluctuations in the stock market and raised concerns about the decline in global trade that could have an impact on individual jobs and economies.
