China races robots against humans in Beijing half a marathon

Robots beside humans ran in Yizhuang Half-Maraathon in Beijing on Saturday.

Twenty -one raced a human robot, designed by Chinese manufacturers, along with thousands of contestants on the course of 21 km (13 miles), including slopes, turns and uneven surfaces.

Some robots completed the race, while others struggled from the beginning. One robot fell in the starting line and put a flat for several minutes before waking up and taking off.

While robots have appeared in the marathon in China in the past, this is the first time that they have been racing against humans over the course of half the marathon.
