Ukrainian officials said that a Russian missile attack on the city of Kreifi Riera has killed at least 16 people and left dozens of wounded.

President Voludmir Zelinski, who grew up in Kryvyi Rih, said six of the dead were children. The head of the city’s defense, Olikander Felkol, said that a ballistic missile landed in a residential area.

The photos showed at least one victim dumped on a field, while a video showed a large part of a 10 -storey block of the destroyed apartments and the victims lying on the road.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that its forces targeted a meeting of a military unit and “foreign countries officers”, and died up to 85 years. No evidence was provided.

The attack, early on Friday evening, was among the bloodiest in Kryvyi Rih since the beginning of the full invasion of Russia in 2022, and comes as US President Donald Trump pushes to a ceasefire.

Zelensky wrote on social media that at least five buildings were damaged in a Friday strike: “There is only one reason for this continued: Russia does not want to stop the shooting, and we see it.”

The regional leader at Kryvyi Rih, Serhii Lysak, said that more than 40 people were treated with wounds, and they were only three months old.

Military heads from both the United Kingdom and France met in Zelinski in Kiev on Friday to discuss the plans of foreign peacekeepers in Ukraine as part of the potential ceasefire deal.

But there were few signs to abandon violence.

Kryvyi Rih was also attacked earlier this week when a building was hit at the center, leaving four dead people.

Earlier on Friday, the strikes of Russian drones in the northeastern city of Kharkif claimed five other life.

France and the United Kingdom accused Russia of withdrawing its feet in the peace agreement in Ukraine. UK Foreign Minister David Lami told the NATO summit in Brussels that the Russian leader “can accept the ceasefire now, (but) the bombing of Ukraine continues its civilian population.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the Russians know the American position, “and we will know their answers soon if they are serious about following in real peace or whether a delay tactic.”

Kryvyi Rih is about 40 miles (70 km) of the confrontation line in eastern Ukraine and with a population of 600,000, it is famous for being the longest city in Europe.
