In France, 400,000 children and youths depend on the Child Protection System, known as the Assistant Assistant à L’enfance, or Ase. As the Natacha Vesnitch and Claire Paccalin report from France 24, this institution is supposed to be protected, but its failures are sometimes presented. Lack of places, separation of siblings and inappropriate structures, the absence of psychological support and ill -treatment – the list of shortcomings within the system is long. The Parliamentary Investigation Committee presented its conclusions on April 8, after months of work to investigate a system that undermines the defect and neglect.
