A new study at Cleveland has gained a clinic in the United States on influenza vaccine, skeptics of vaccine, which raised questions and concerns about the safety of the vaccine.

“Get the influenza shot and you are 27 % more likely to be influenza!” Read a post on April 7 x referred to a pre -published study on April 4. “Get the snapshot get the disease!”

The next day, other news from the x post Breded study by an invitation to work: “All influenza vaccines should be withdrawn from the market pending great future studies on their safety and effectiveness.”

Warnings indicate an unresolved article by Cleveland Clinic, researchers entitled influenza vaccine effectiveness during the 2024-2025 respiratory viral season. It was published on April 4 on MedrXIV Preprint Server, which reveals in the Bold district at the top that it was “new medical research reports that have not yet been evaluated, and therefore should not be used to direct clinical practice.”

What does the study say – and what you do

The study included 53,402 employees of the Cleveland Clinic Health system in Ohio and found that the participants who were vaccinated have a higher percentage of infection in the last influenza season. But a spokesperson for Cleveland Clinic said it was misleading to use the study to extract wider conclusions on vaccines and exposure to infection.

“The data came from the relatively healthy population of the population of about 50,000 health care workers and did not represent the general population,” said Andrea Passte, a spokesman for Cleveland Clinic.

The influenza vaccine helps prevent influenza from getting more severe and requires hospitalization. Every year, the US Food and Drug Administration vaccines (FDA) and the consulting committee for biological products related to viruses that must be used in the influenza vaccine next season. Data collected by the FDA (FDA), the World Health Organization, the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other partners who revolve around the influenza strains around it all over the world. (The committee meeting was canceled to discuss influenza vaccine breeds for the influenza season 2025-2026.)

According to the Center for Disease Control, during seasons where influenza vaccine breeds and influenza strains are identical, the vaccine “reduces the risk of having to a doctor with influenza by 40 % to 60 %.”

Robert Hopkins Junior, Medical Director of the National Infectious Corporation, said Cleveland Clinic does not evaluate the basic benefit of influenza vaccination: reducing the risk of severe disease, hospitalization and death.

“People should realize that the effectiveness of influenza vaccines varies from year to year, but even when flu vaccination does not completely prevent infection, it can make the disease more moderate and prevent serious complications, including hospitalization and death,” said Hopkins.

Hopkins said, “It is not fully consistent with the social media post calling for the removal of influenza vaccines from the market.” This procedure will lead to more illness And death from influenza.

Nabin Shirsta, the doctor and co -author of the study, said, although the results found an increase in the risk of influenza among the participants who were vaccinated, but the authors understood that the increasing risks “could be from an unrecognized factor”, and therefore, it did not conclude that the vaccine increases the risk of infection.

Shrsta also said that the study did not indicate that the influenza vaccine should be withdrawn from the market because it makes people more likely to get the influenza. “In general, the influenza vaccine is an important public health tool,” he said.

Who participated in the study?

Cleveland Clinic requires workers to obtain an annual influenza vaccine or search for an exemption from a doctor or debt, so this study included a large number of people who were vaccinated.

Among the participants, 43,857 was vaccinated during the study period, with 98.7 percent of the broken triple influenza vaccine. By the end of the study, 1079 influenza participants – about 2 percent of the entire study residents.

Pactti said it is worth noting that only 2 percent of the participants had influenza during the study period. She said, “The population did not include children and contain very few elderly or immune individuals.”

The results of the study indicated that cumulative cases of influenza – or the number of new cases divided into the total number of persons in the study at risk (were vaccinated and not immunized) – a faster increase among the participants who were vaccinated from non -fortified cases.

The authors found that the influenza vaccine had a negative effectiveness, “which indicates that the vaccine was not effective in preventing influenza” for this season.

What do these results mean?

The Center for Disease Control said that the effectiveness of the influenza vaccine can vary in every season of the person (the collaboration in properties such as age and health). The agency said its effectiveness also depends on its similarity with influenza viruses circulating in society.

The agency’s data showed the effectiveness of the seasonal influenza vaccine-or the extent of the vaccine wishes well in the severe disease and hospital therapy-change in each season with an effective rate of 42 percent during the 2023-2024 season. The researchers have found that it reduces the risk of visits of outpatients associated with influenza and hospitals between children, adolescents and adults.

Hopkins said that the study did not discuss whether the workplace had hiding policies or other restrictions on non -imprisoned employees, which “can have an important effect on influenza”, especially for those working in clinical environments. The study said that about 10900 participants had a clinical nursing function.

Pestei and Jeffrey Morris, Director of Biological Statistics at the University of Pennsylvania Berlman, said that vaccines reduce the risk of death or severe disease, which the study does not eat.

The article said that the effectiveness of the vaccine in any specific year “depends on the similarity of the strains contained in the vaccine of the strains that cause infection that year.”

The authors of the study also said that almost all the participants used a three -scattered influenza vaccine, so other influenza vaccines are likely to be more effective.
