Interim WBC junior middleweight champion, Serhiy Bohachuk, expects a knockout victory over his replacement, Ismael Davis, in their 12-round main support bout on Saturday, December 21. The match will be Live on DAZN PPV on the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk 2 card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Davis (13-1, 6 KOs) is fresh off a loss to Josh Kelly on September 21 and was said to be a fighter that Turki Al Sheikh enjoyed despite his recent defeat.
Unbalanced match
Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) says he beat Kelly in the amateurs. Even if he didn’t, Bohachuk fighting Ishmael’s characters was a bad mismatch. Davis, 29, is a lower level/local fighter.
It’s too bad a better fighter wasn’t found to be the replacement opponent for Bohachuk because Davis isn’t good enough to make this fight interesting. He didn’t show any power and looked poor in his loss to Josh Kelly. It makes Kelly look like he’s a solid player in that fight, which he’s not.

Ishmael Davis is too old to be fighting this level of opposition, but his fight against Josh Kelly showed that he’s not good enough to take on world-class opponents.
Although Kelly is ranked highly, he should be in the bottom 14 or 15. Kelly’s sixth-round knockout loss to David Avanesyan in 2021 and his 10-round draw to Ray Robinson in 2019 showed his level, or lack thereof.
Bohachuk lost a controversial 12-round majority decision to Vergil Ortiz Jr. on August 10 in a fight that left a black eye on the sport. He wasn’t supposed to lose, but the Las Vegas judges gave it to the popular fighter.
Virgil Jr. was dropped twice in the fight and was forced to escape in the eighth round due to the punishment he received. Ortiz Jr. was arguably saved from an 11th round knockout when work was stopped to repair the gloves. He was injured at timeout.
“Ishmael Davis is smart, he’s strong and he’s in good shape. He’s here and in good shape. He looks big and strong,” Serhiy Bohachuk said. BoxNation About his alternative opponent, Ismael Davis, whom he will face on Saturday, December 21, in Riyadh.
I saw him in the restaurant now. He’s a good guy. I smile. I saw his fight (with Josh Kelly). He presses and moves and can change his position from left to right. He’s an interesting boxer. “It’s a good experience for me, and a good fight for my career,” Bohachuk said of his fight against Ishmael Davis.
“Of course I can stop (Davis). I’m ready for Madrimov. Of course I can stop him. I can talk the fight. I’ll show you the fight.”
Bohachuk will walk Ishmael Davis and knock him out on Saturday night. Davis doesn’t go the distance in this fight unless he runs, which he will likely do the entire contest. He doesn’t have the ability to stand up in the pocket against Bohachuk and would get cut quickly if he tried.
Bohachuk picks Usyk over Fury
“Usyk wins by decision or KO. If Fury is ready for this fight, Usyk can win by decision,” Bohachuk said, giving his predictions for the main event bout between unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. “For this fight, Usyk will hit him in the later rounds, maybe nine or eleven rounds.”
“I don’t think I lost the fight with Virgil (Ortiz), and I think Madrimov wants to fight Virgil in the next fight. I’m ready for Madrimov. When he beats Virgil, I’ll be ready for him. He’s a good boxer, he’s strong, and it’s an exciting fight,” Bohachuk said. Interesting to me.”
