In an interesting experiment, a student from the Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad put three popular quick commerce apps – Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart – head to head to determine which service offered the fastest. Her test results sparked discussions on social media.

Sneha, along with her friend Aryan, ordered different items from the three apps simultaneously to evaluate the promised delivery times. The three apps showed the following delivery times:

– Plinkett: A 13-minute run of one Super You bar and one Whole Truth protein bar

– Swiggy Instamart: Shown 21 minutes of ordering a carton of Sid Farm milk

– Zepto: Show 8 minutes Request milky mist palette

In her post on X, Sneha captured the anticipation of the wait, saying: “Then came the fun part – the waiting?”

Although Zepto initially promised delivery within 10 minutes, it was eventually late, taking 30 minutes. A conversation with delivery partner Zepto revealed that the delay was due to the store’s distance from campus.

The results were as follows, as stated in the blog post:

“Plinkett: It came first in 15 minutes (a little later than promised, but the delivery guy was very happy, which made our day special).

Swiggy Instamart: FFollowed in 20 minutes – precise timing and great delivery man.

Zpto: They finally showed up, mostly because their store was far away, and there was a glitch with the site.”

While Sneha’s experiment comparing Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart provided interesting insights into delivery times, it is important to note that such a comparison may not be entirely fair, as these services are not location-based.

Delivery speed can vary significantly depending on the customer’s region; For example, Blinkit may outperform Zepto in some neighborhoods, while in others, Zepto or Swiggy Instamart may be the faster option. This discrepancy highlights that delivery efficiency is influenced by geographic factors rather than reflecting the overall reliability of each application.

Sneha’s experience has gained traction online, fueled by unedited videos of the delivery process. Social media users responded with a mixture of humor and shared experiences, with one user recalling a frustrating delivery that took 20 minutes despite being just 10 meters from a Swiggy store. Others commented on the reliability of quick commerce apps, noting that they often deliver before the estimated time, similar to Zomato’s experiences.

While Blinkit emerged as the fastest service in this friendly competition, the trial highlighted the unpredictability of speedy commerce delivery, leaving users surprised and frustrated.
