A routine evening at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) took a dramatic turn on Sunday when a life-threatening emergency arose, prompting rapid rescue efforts.
Dr Garima Agarwal, a nephrologist from Manipal Hospitals, Varthur, came to the aid of another passenger who went into cardiac arrest and performed CPR in time and saved his life, he said. Times of India.
Dr Aggarwal, who was traveling to attend a family function, noticed a commotion near the boarding gate next door. What initially seemed like a simple incident, quickly escalated when she realized a middle-aged man had collapsed and passersby were frantically calling for help.

Rescue efforts
The situation worsened when Dr. Agarwal discovered that the man’s airway was blocked by vomiting. She acted quickly, rotating him to remove the obstruction before resuming chest compressions. Her efforts continued until the airport medical team arrived with an automated external defibrillator (AED).
The combined efforts of Dr. Agarwal and the medical team included several defibrillators and emergency medications. After approximately 15 minutes of intensive resuscitation, the man’s pulse regained, although he remained unconscious. He was immediately transferred to a private hospital, where his condition later stabilized.
Dr. Aggarwal’s quick and decisive actions won praise from passengers and spectators alike. Despite the difficult situation, she was able to catch her flight, and received many thanks from many on board.
