David Benavidez says he expects former Cuban amateur star David Morrell to do just that Crouch at his feet After beating him on February 1, admitting that “The Mexican Monster” “is the best” after beating him at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The “Respect” prophecy.

Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) says all of his opponents follow the same formula where they talk to him endlessly, saying he’s a “bum”, has no “defense” and is a limited fighter. But after he gets the better of them, they sing a different tune, and shower him with compliments.

What Benavidez didn’t point out is that the guys he was fighting throughout his long career were smaller guys, like Demetrius Andrade, Caleb Plante, David Lemieux, Anthony Dirrell, and Ronald Ellis. That was Benavidez’s best run before jumping to No. 175 last June.

“I don’t have anything. I’m a bum. I’m RoboCop. It’s good that he thinks that way,” David Benavidez told Boxing News of David Morrell, who he viewed as a second-rate fighter. “You better not have any excuses yet.” To beat you in front of your people.

“What are you going to say? You’re going to say David Benavidez is the best. Just like you and everyone else I’ve fought before. They say the same thing. After they got in the ring with me, it’s a completely different story. You’ll see too,” Benavidez said.

This looks sick. You see, Benavidez, the interim WBC light heavyweight champion, created a completely unrealistic caricature in his head. The fight will likely go the other way, with Morell winning and Benavidez then saying, “How could I be so wrong?”

Morel power

It will be interesting to see if Benavidez, 28, can get away with fighting the same style he did at 168 when he stepped into the ring with Morell, a brutal two-handed boxer.

Benavidez may not last long against Muriel as he fights the way he has in his last three fights, especially against Oleksandr Gvozdyk on June 15. Morel hits very hard and will burn holes in Benavidez if he tries to overwhelm him with size like he did against the 37-year-old Gvozdik.
