Arsenal fans will be disappointed after seeing their side drop points against Brighton yesterday, and there is more bad news awaiting them this morning.
According to journalist Eduardo Burgos on X, Arsenal are keen to conclude a transfer for Wolverhampton striker Matheus CunhaBut he is now about to sign a new contract with Molineux.
The talented Brazilian striker has been in fine form in the Premier League this season, contributing ten goals and four assists in 19 appearances so far, and it is no surprise that Arsenal are looking at him as a potential addition to bolster their attacking line.
Arsenal is chasing an 18-goal star who could save their season!
However, see below where AS journalist Burgos suggests that Wolves are not at all prepared to sell Cunha, and are even close to penning a new deal for the 25-year-old…
EXC. Matthews Cunha’s renewal with Wolves is close.
The only thing missing is the issue of termination clause. They are negotiating to include a lower release clause if the team is relegated.

It is clear that Cunha will be very important to Wolves in their attempt to avoid relegation from the Premier League, so it will probably never be easy for Arsenal or anyone else to be able to sign him in the middle of this season.
Matheus Cunha transfer: Arsenal target could receive reduced release clause

However, one positive to keep an eye on is that Burgos says Wolves will include a reduced release clause for Cunha if he ends up relegated.
It could mean that Arsenal have a great chance of signing Cunha on the cheap in the summeralthough most fans would definitely prefer to get him now so he can make an impact in this year’s title race.
Mikel Arteta’s side look to face an uphill battle to get Liverpool back now, with the Reds potentially having the chance to go 11 points clear if they win their two games in hand.
Arsenal may have to focus solely on finishing the season on the highest level possible and performing well in the Champions League and domestic cup competitions, but that will certainly still require providing cover for the injured Bukayo Saka.
