Arsenal needs new players as soon as possible, especially in attacking positions.
They have struggled to score goals this season which is why they are currently trailing Premier League leaders Liverpool.
After competing for the league title in the past two seasons, Arteta was expected to sign a striker in the summer transfer period, but the Spaniard instead focused on strengthening the team’s defence.
It has now become clear that there is a need for a new striker at the club who can lead the north London club to their first Premier League title in almost two decades.
Journalist David Ornstein has been discussing Arsenal’s transfer targets and has named Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak as the player Arteta would like to sign in an ideal world.
However, the sports journalist went on to claim that on finances it would not make sense for the Gunners to sign him.
talk on The Athletic Club PodcastOrnstein said:
“I think we have to keep our eyes on Alexander Isak. We’ve seen how incredibly good he is when he’s fit and in rhythm.
“There doesn’t seem to be any progress on a new contract. Newcastle are keeping him for several more years, and that might open up the opportunity for clubs to make a push.

“He’s someone clubs have looked at closely in the past. For example, Arsenal were looking to sign him when he was at Real Sociedad, but they didn’t finalize it and he went to Newcastle.
“Mikel Arteta is a known fan and I think in an ideal world if they had their choice of strikers and money was not a factor I think Arsenal would seriously consider signing him. But finances are an issue and he would cost a lot of money and he has spent a lot of time out injured.
Alexander Isak to Arsenal?
The Swedish international striker would be the ideal player to lead Arsenal’s attack.
Currently, Kai Havertz bears this responsibility and the German is suffering a lot this season.
Although Isak has had some fitness issues recently, a player like him would love to play in Arsenal’s attacking team. He is a ruthless striker which is something the Gunners lack in their squad.
Perhaps with him on their side, they could have won at least one Premier League title in the last two seasons.
It remains to be seen whether Arteta will enter the market for a new striker but Isak is not the only one who has been linked with him.
Premier League giants recently Discover RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sisco.
