the iPhone 16 Pro You can take amazing pictures in any circumstances and this does not mean anything about its slow 4K mode. Multiple and new background lenses Photography patterns A lot of photographers, whether they just start or if they take pictures for years. Even the iPhone 16 Pro is fighting a strong battle against the other The best camera phones About, including Galaxy S24 Ultrathe Pixel 9 Pro and Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

But it is still not the perfect camera, and while it claims early reports from those familiar with the industry that the phone is Video skills will get a batchThere is a lot that the phone will need to be a comprehensive photography force. As an experienced phone and professional photographer, I have exceptionally high expectations for higher phone cameras and have used iPhone 16 Pro since its launch, I have some ideas about what to change.
Here are the main points that I want to see on iPhone 17 when they are most likely launched in September 2025.
A greater picture sensor
Although the 1/1.28-inch sensor is on the main camera of the iPhone 16 Pro is already a good size-and is marginally bigger than the S24 Ultra 1/1.33 inches sensor-I want to see Apple larger. The largest photo sensor can capture more light and provide a better dynamic range. For this reason, professional cameras tend to get at least a “full frame” photo sensors, while high -end cameras are really amazing Hasselblad 907XYou have huge “medium format” sensors for virgin image quality.
Even on professional cameras, the sensor size is important. Even a full photo sensor in the middle is dwarfed by the medium coordination sensor on the right. The phone camera sensors do not come anywhere near this size.
Xiaomi understands this, with 14 Ultra with a 1 -inch type sensor. It is larger than the sensors on almost any other phone, allowing 14 Ultra Take amazing pictures In a variety of circumstances – Including Taylor Swift concerts. I am keen to see Apple at least match the Xiaomi phone here with a 1 -inch type sensor. Although if we are talking about pie desires in the sky, IPhone 17 may be the first smartphone with a full -frame image sensor. I will not hold my breath on this person – the phone, and lenses, you will need to be enormous to absorb it, so it is likely to be more efficient only to allow you to make calls with the camera without a mirror.
Changing
When talking about Xiaomi 14 Ultra, one of the other causes that the Phone Rocks is very difficult for for photography is to open the variable on the main camera. The broader opening is f/1.6- much wider than the f/1.78 from iPhone 16 Pro. This broader hole allows a lot of light in low conditions and achieves more honest peach out of focus on a topic.
Street light outside this bar was converted into attractive stars thanks to the changing hole of Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
But Xiaomi’s 14 UltraPERTURE can also close the F/4, and with that narrower opening, it can create Starbursts around light points. I love achieving this effect on night pictures with the phone. It makes the resulting images seem to have been taken using a professional camera and lens, while the same light points on the iPhone look like round points. Disappointing New 15 ultra So, whether Apple sees value in implementing this type of technology, it still should be seen.
More photography patterns
Although Apple had many methods and effects integrated into iPhone cameras, the iPhone 16 took it further, with more control of effects and toning options. It is enough to liberate a large cnet Lisa Eadicicco She even announced her new photography patterns. The new preferred feature on the latest Apple phone“
I think they are great too. Or rather, it’s great Start. Various color tones, such as those you get with amber and gold patterns, add some beautiful warmth to the viewer, and the calm effect adds an antique cinematic fading, but there is still a lot to choose from them and the interface can be a little slow at work. I would like to see Apple offers more photography patterns with different toning options for color, or even with tones that mimic old movie stocks from Kodak or Fujifilm.
I like the warmer tones produced by the iPhone amber style in this picture, but I definitely want to see more options for creativity with color tones.
Certainly, there are a lot of third -party apps like VSCO or Snapseed that allows you to play with color filters everything you want. But using Apple styles means that you can take your photos with the already applied look, then change them after that if you don’t like them-nothing is baked in your image.
The best integration of prora with photography patterns
I think Apple has missed some opportunity with its photographic patterns, as you can only use them when taking pictures in formatting a highly efficient image). Unfortunately, you cannot use it when the Prora. I like to use Apple for Proraw on previous iPhone devices, as it takes advantage of all iPhone’s arithmetic photography – including things like mixing HDR image – but still comes out of the DNG RAW file to facilitate editing.
The DNG file usually also provides more length lines for dark areas or the most prominent tone in a form, making it very versatile. Previously, the prior colored settings of Apple can be used when photographing in Proraw, and loved them. I often shoot pictures similar to the street using black and white mode on the high contrast, then I edited the raw file.
I do a lot of photography in the streets in black and white, and I love more flexibility to take Prora -colored shots.
Now using the same black and white appearance means only photographing pictures in Heif format, eliminating the benefits of using Proraw from Apple. It is strange that although the old -style “filters” are no longer available in the camera application when taking a preliminary image, you can still apply these filters to raw images in the iPhone application through the editing list.
Lotus for PRORES video
While we are in the subject of priority and color filters, the Apple needs to bring it to the video as well. On iPhone 15 Pro, Apple provided the ability to Video shooting in PRORESIt results in very low clips, almost gray. The idea is that the video editors will take these raw shots and then apply their adjustments to the top, and often apply contrast and colorful forms known as LUTS (search tables) that give the clips a specific look-think about horror movies or warm and light tones of the culture of romantic drama.
But Apple does not offer any type of LUT to edit the Prories video on iPhone, until simply intensifying contrast, which does not properly do the task. Certainly, the goal of Prories is that you will take these shots from iPhone, and put them in programs like Davinci Resolution, then correctly coloring shots so that they look elegant and professional.
Pror shots look very low and saturated. Apple needs to provide ways to help you make more proror files on iPhone.
But this still leaves files on your phone, and I would like to be able to do more with them. My exhibition is full of unrestricted video files that I will do so much because it needs to classify external colors. I would like to share them in Instagram, or with my family on WhatsApp, after converting these files from Drab and Gray to a beautiful color.
With iPhone 17, or even with iPhone 16 as a software update, I want to see Apple creates a set of LUTS that can be applied directly to video files on iPhone.
If Apple is able to implement all these changes-with exception, perhaps, the full frame sensor that I can even admit is an ambitious touch-it will have an absolute monster of the camera on its hands.
