On Wednesday, Trump announced new import taxes of 25 % on cars and auto parts that enter the United States from abroad and which enter into force on April 2.

The fees on companies that import vehicles are expected to start on April 3, and taxes on the parts are scheduled to start in May or newer.

Trump and members of his administration have argued that the definitions would lead to “tremendous growth” and increase jobs in the United States.

But experts and automotive companies have warned from a fake point that the customs tariff can raise prices for American consumers, which doubles the stress of the slow economy already.

Mohamed Hosseini, the owner of the sale of used cars in Maryland, said he expected to transfer the costs of additional tariffs to the consumer.

“Prices in the wholesale market have already increased,” he told the BBC.

She said she might have been waiting for the summer to go shopping, but “with the definitions, I decided to go out and look now.”

The Trump administration claimed that the definitions would make Americans buy American cars instead of foreigners.

“I don’t think I will buy a car made in the United States just for the definitions, I think I may wait a few years until things settled,” she said.

From car buyers to car dealers, the effects of definitions will be widespread, for the better or for the worse, the experts say.
