The US airline lifted its nationwide grounding on Tuesday after earlier reporting a widespread “technical issue” affecting all flights with many Americans boarding. Traveling for busy holidays.

The airline said in a statement that the ground stop lasted for about an hour, and all flights have since resumed.

“A technical issue with suppliers briefly affected flights this morning,” the statement said. “This issue has been resolved and flights have resumed. We sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience caused this morning. All is well as our team is working hard to get customers where they need to go as quickly as possible.”

“We are currently experiencing a technical issue with all American Airlines flights,” the airline previously wrote. Statement on X “Your safety is our top priority, and once this is corrected, we will get you safely to your destination.”

Morgan McMahon, a Texan, told Fox News Digital that he was sitting on a plane at LaGuardia Airport in New York when the captain made the announcement.

“He was sitting on the plane. The captain initially announced that the weight counter computer was down. He was probably 5 to 10 minutes late on that. About 15 minutes later he announced that the entire AA system was down,” McMahon said.

McMahon, who was trying to return home to Texas, said he would continue to fly with American Airlines despite the disruption to his travel.

“They can give some kind of cash credit to my account (to make up for the inconvenience),” McMahon told Fox News Digital. “This wound is fine. $100 and I’ll be fine.”
