The newspaper reported that Amazon will also broadcast the inauguration ceremony via Prime Video, which will amount to an in-kind donation of another million dollars.

FOX Business reached out to Trump’s transition team but did not receive a response.

Bezos is among technology industry leaders, including Elon Musk and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who have sought to cozy up to the new administration.

Musk, the most outspoken of them all, endorsed Trump in July and has remained close to him.

Musk donated about $250 million to pro-Trump causes to help get him elected, and Zuckerberg also plans to donate $1 million to the inaugural fund.

Bezos and Musk are also competing for NASA contracts through their space companies, SpaceX and Blue Origin, although SpaceX is the main company transporting astronauts to the International Space Station.

Musk has also been appointed along with Vivek Ramaswamy to head the newly created company Government Efficiency Department For the next administration.

“I want to get ideas from them,” Trump told CNBC on Thursday of his meeting with the three businessmen. “Look, we want them to be well. We want everyone, we want great jobs, great salaries. We want people to love, and when they wake up in the morning, wake up and say ‘I love going to work,’ I want to go to work. We want people to work.” “We want them to work for a lot of money.”

Bezos, who also owns The Washington Post, has been involved in a dispute in the past, often over the newspaper’s coverage of Trump.

However, The Washington Post sparked controversy before this year’s elections when it decided not to endorse a candidate, which some saw as an implicit endorsement of Trump.

Trump wrote in a tweet nine years ago: “If Amazon has to pay fair taxes, their stock will collapse and collapse like a paper bag. @washingtonpost scam saves them!”

Bezos blamed Trump’s influence in a legal challenge after the Defense Department awarded a $10 million cloud computing contract to Microsoft instead of Amazon in 2019.

Amazon claimed at the time that Microsoft’s contract “was not based on the merits of the proposals, but rather was the result of outside influence that has no place in government procurement.”

More recently, Bezos wrote on X that Trump had shown “tremendous generosity and courage” during the assassination attempt and congratulated him the day after the election.
