According to the Bharti Aartel books, the DOT), to request the transfer of more than 41,000 rupees in the total modified revenue (AGR) to stocks – the last competitor Vodafone Idea moved. If approved, the proposal may give the government a 2-4 % stake in the second largest communications operator in India.
In a message dated April 1, Aartel is said to have urged the point to ensure a Salim field and enforce non -discriminatory policy across the telecommunications sector. Today’s business cannot verify the contents of the message independently.
The request follows the recent government’s gesture to the Vodafone Idea plan to convert the spectrum dues of 36,950 rupees into royal rights, raising its share in the Telco full of debt to 48.99 %.
According to Aartel stated that although it is entitled to transfer all its dues – including those outside the government’s endowment window – it is currently limiting the request of AGR dues only. The total dues of the government suspended by the government is linked to more than 95,000 rupees, including 53,500 rupees of the spectrum obligations.
Aartel has already paid its precedents from 2021 and 2024 auctions, and continues to pay the price of the 5G spectrum obtained in 2022. It is believed that the company indicated that these pre -payments should not be placed in a non -favorable position, and it reserves the right to approach DOT in the future to get rid or adapt.
The demand comes at a time when the government has postponed its decision regarding the waiver of interest and penalties for AGR dues – due to the lack of consensus at the summit. If the waiver was approved, he would have made more than 1 crores to Ruba Lakh at the comfort of the old operators, with Vodafone an idea and Artel the largest beneficiaries.
However, reports indicate that any relief from Aartel may paint the audit in view of its financial strength. Telco has recorded a clear profit of 14,760.7 rupees in the first quarter of December on revenues of 46,878 rupees, with ARPU at a value of $ 245 and cash reserves of 9,922 rupees.
According to the relief package of communications announced in 2021, Aartel’s choice continues on AGR dues until March – April 2026. The AGR crisis from the 2019 Supreme Court ruling stems which supported the government’s interpretation of modified total revenues, leading to $ 1.47 of CROR against $ 92.64. Use fees, the largest part of it includes penalties and benefits.
