Adobe has it To remove window reflections from images. This feature was originally announced at Adobe Max 2023 as It’s available for preview in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Bridge now if you’re a Creative Cloud subscriber, and Adobe Lightroom support is coming soon.

If you’ve ever taken a photo of something through a store window, you’ve probably dealt with your own reflection or a variety of light streaks and distortions that ruin the image. Adobe’s Reflections Removal Tool (now referred to as Project See Through) is designed to make it easier to remove those reflections.

The tool uses artificial intelligence that can isolate two separate images: the reflection and anything on the other side of the window or reflective material. The training data that Adobe used to teach its AI was generated from thousands of reflection-free images that were combined in pairs to create composite images with simulated reflections. The AI model is tasked with identifying the two original images from which the composite was made, and Adobe engineers can then reward or punish them until the model’s accuracy improves.

The final product works best with reflections that occupy the entire field of view of the image. Specifically, Adobe says the Reflection Removal Tool can’t handle “reflections from small or distant windows” or reflections from “wine glasses, car bodies, or clouds reflected in a lake.” Engadget was able to test the feature on reflection in a pair of images He reached a similar conclusion. Adobe’s tool was able to make the sunglass lenses strangely sharper, revealing some of the background behind them, but it didn’t remove the reflection entirely.

If you want to try out the feature yourself, Adobe says you can go to the preferences panel in the Camera RAW plug-in, enable the “New AI Features and Settings Panel,” and then restart any app you access through the plug-in. In whom. Once you upload an image, the Remove Reflection tool will be in the Remove panel under the Remove Distraction section.

Removing reflection is just a small example of how Adobe has been trying to integrate AI into its suite of creative apps in the past few years. The company has directed most of its attention toward generative AI, first Image creation capabilities, and as recently as October 2024, .
