A16Z Speedrun has announced that its opening applications for its upcoming event, SR005, the fifth version of the signature event. Speedrunning program starts starting 12 weeks on July 28 in Los Angeles, with A16Z planning to invest up to one million dollars in each company chosen to participate. This event is crowned on the experimental day, which was held on October 7 during the SF Tech Week. Program applications close on May 11.
Speedrun participants usually include those in AI and interactive spaces, and their projects can include tools, experiences, games and entertainment. According to the A16z, less than 1 % of applicants will secure a spot, but those who do not obtain monetary investment only from the A16Z but they are allocated reactions from the team and a network of other industry guides, advisers and graduates in the program. The company also stated that it had published more than $ 100 million to 120+ from startups since 2023.
“Speedrun has been designed for founders who not only follow trends-they define them. We support some of the most ambitious entrepreneurs who build AI-FIRST products, next entertainment, upcoming entertainment, and completely new interactive experiences. Guidance, and most importantly a society of ambitious builders speeds their success,” Josh Lu, a manager at A16z, said in a statement.
A16Z provided details of the previous group of SR004, which included 42 companies from more than 6000 applicants. 69 % of the chosen people were artificial intelligence through multiple loans, including trade, development and stories. The regiment also appeared founders of multiple countries, including Canada, Israel, Turkey, London and Sweden.
