A 22-year-old pizza delivery driver in Florida, frustrated by receiving a $2 (about Rs 170) tip, stabbed a woman 14 times in a hotel. In an unexpected development, the injured woman discovered that she was pregnant while being treated at a local hospital for her injuries.
According to NBC News, the accused, identified as Brianna Alvelo, faces charges of attempted murder, home invasion with a firearm, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. Authorities are still working to identify the man believed to have been with Alvelo during the attack.
According to the affidavit, based on the woman’s account provided to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the victim, her boyfriend and her 5-year-old daughter were staying at a hotel in Kissimmee to celebrate a birthday when they ordered Marco’s 24-hour pizza. Weekend.
Alvelo arrived to deliver the order, which cost about $33 (about INR 2,800), and was asked to change for a $50 bill (about INR 4,300). However, the delivery driver did not have the requested change. After searching for smaller denominations, the woman eventually gave Alvelo a $2 tip.
According to the affidavit, the victim recounted hearing a loud knock on the door some time after the pizza was delivered. As she answered, a masked man and woman dressed in black forced their way into the room. The man was holding a silver handgun, ordering the woman’s boyfriend into the bathroom, while the woman, believed to be Brianna Alvelo, brandished a pocket knife, the affidavit specified.
The report stated that the intruders looted the victim’s property. The man went through her bag and broke her daughter’s Nintendo Switch. When the victim tried to protect her child, she felt a sharp pain in her lower back.
The affidavit revealed that she was stabbed 14 times, resulting in injuries to her chest, arms, legs and abdomen. While receiving treatment at a local hospital, the victim learned that she was pregnant.
Alvelo is currently being held in the Osceola County Jail on a bail of $55,000 (approximately INR 4,705,000). Reports indicated that no lawyer has been appointed to represent her yet.
