A Bengaluru resident recently took to social media to highlight what he claims are “fraudulent” practices by Blinkit. The user shared his experience ordering oil via the app as part of a deal that advertised an extra liter for free. However, upon delivery, the promised one liter free oil was not included.

“I ordered 5L + 1L oil from Plinkit. It was advertised as 5L + 1L on the app for Rs 1,072. The delivery agent delivers only 5L,” the customer, identified as ‘Adventurous-Parsnip3’, wrote in a post. It was shared on Reddit’s Bengaluru community.

The customer explained that after filing the complaint, Blinkit responded by offering a voucher worth Rs 100 as compensation, which is much less than the value of the liter of oil lost.

“We have filed a complaint with Blinkit and requested that they either give us the full order or take back the 5L. “Now they are saying that they will give a coupon of Rs 100 for an item that was Rs 1072/6 = Rs 178 because it is the maximum allowed by their policy,” the Reddit user explained.

Redditor “Adventurous-Parsnip3” also pointed out that Blinkit’s internal policy does not bind its customers.

“A policy is an internal framework. The purpose of a policy is to set internal boundaries for the solution. As a consumer, we have nothing to do with the policy implemented by Blinkit management. They stated that we have no contractual obligations towards it.

“They are also claiming that one liter of oil was free and therefore no value could be attributed to it,” the user added, while questioning the practice and asking: “What is the solution available against these scams?”

“Blinkit makes an additional Rs. 178 on each unit sold to customers who did not notice the fraud and Rs. 78 on each unit sold to customers who agreed to it,” the customer explained.

The Redditor revealed that they escalated the matter by contacting Blinkit’s official support page on X (formerly Twitter), which eventually resulted in a refund of Rs 180.

“I posted it on @blinkitcares on Twitter (X). Now they want a refund of Rs. 175. Tell them they will refund $178.83 or nothing,” they shared in an update.

They added in a follow-up post: “I got a refund of Rs 180 from Blinkit after raising issues with @BlinkitCares on
