Eddie Hao will get Newcastle Freedom after the Carabau Cup victory

Newcastle United manager Edi Hao is to give the city’s freedom after the club’s Carabau’s historic Cup won over Liverpool.

Hao led Magpies to win 2-1 on Sunday, when he won the first major cup since 1969.

As a recognition of this achievement, he will receive the highest honor of CIVIC Can Newcastle – a prize prize for club legends such as Sir Bobby Robson, Alan Shearer and Jackie Melbourne.

This announcement comes at a time when another local hero, defender Dan Bern, was nominated for the freedom of Northamberland.

She said: “You have never seen the generations of supporters of their beloved club raising a local cup, and under his leadership, we all have memories that a really unforgettable day.”

The official Eau Award is expected to be confirmed at a full meeting of the Council later this year.
