The Kremlin said in a statement that President Vladimir F. Putin from Russia agreed on Tuesday during a phone call with President Trump to stop the strikes on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure, but he re -fears about the ceasefire on the United States and Ukraine on the widest and suggested.

It seems that the result is no less than what Mr. Trump was hoped for in communicating with Moscow, after several days of optimistic statements from the White House that peace was within reach.

The Kremlin said that Mr. Putin said that his “main case” to end the conflict and prevent him from escalation was a “complete stop” for foreign military and intelligence assistance to Kiev.

It was not clear how Ukraine would respond to the Kremlin’s statement: It is less than a 30 -day ceasefire suggestion suggestion for a 30 -day ceasefire that Ukraine has already said to support.

Ukrainian officials accused Mr. Putin of playing for time in order to maintain the leverage in the negotiations, and allow Russia to continue bombing Ukrainian cities and towns.

This is a developing story.
